Betty Stoltenburg

Sewing and creating have been Betty’s lifelong passions, so it was only natural that her indirect path led her from a high-tech career to joining the BERNINA event team for their first Sewapalooza events in 2014. In addition to presenting at a variety of BERNINA events, Betty has created several projects and instructions that have been published in the BERNINA WeAllSew Blog and the 2014 Look Book.

Betty has digitized embroidery patterns for nearly 20 years and Quilting designs for the past 3 years. She is always eager to learn new BERNINA systems and use them to bring her imagination to life. When BERNINA introduced the Q-Series longarm with Q-matic, Betty knew that she would love discovering and then teaching others how to get the most out of this powerful quilting machine.

In 2018, Betty joined the newly formed BERNINA Longarm Trade Show/Event Team to focus on the Q-series, and she enjoys seeing the spark in a student’s eyes when they overcome a hurdle with their projects and better understand their machine and technique.

When Betty isn’t presenting BERNINA events, working at trade shows or teaching her own Q-matic/Art and Stitch classes she is constantly developing new projects and honing creative skills. Her sewing studio includes BERNINA 170, 200, B 880 PLUS, L 220, 1100DA, and Leo the Longarm (Q24 on a classic frame with Q-matic), E16 embroidery machines, and her newest addition is Olivia (L 890 Overlocker w/ coverstitch)

Shelly Fitzgerald

Shelly Fitzgerald comes into your event or classroom with a mixture of enthusiasm and knowledge that quickly attracts and holds the interest of the participants.  Overlocking to software, garment sewing to machine embroidery, quilting to Home Dec, Shelly has a love and understanding of the topics and the BERNINA machines, software, feet and accessories that accomplish each task.

Sewing and crafting all of her life allows years of experience to be passed on in a lively and informative way.  She freely admits to reading all the manuals for pleasure and then loves teaching what she has learned to her classes.  Bringing the out of the ordinary to front and center by encouraging everyone to change their settings (gasp!) use a punch tool (eek!) ruffle, ruffle, ruffle (wow!) and sew with their left foot (no way!) she shows how easy it is to kick it up a notch or two by using any BERNINA product to its full potential. She makes it fun, not hard and leaves everyone excited about their new tools and skills.

Through her company, Sew Shelly Quilts, LLC, Shelly creates and presents original patterns and classes to bring the extended capabilities of all of the BERNINA products to life. Her classes are rich with techniques and software is her passion.  Since 2014 Shelly has been a member of the BERNINA Event Team which has brought you Sewaplaooza and BERNINA Academy.

YouTube is another favorite way of Shelly’s to engage stitch enthusiasts worldwide.  Her channel can be found at www.youtube.com/sewshellyquilts where she has many up close videos on techniques that can be used with various materials, machine feet, The BERNINA 880 Plus, BERNINA V8 and V9 Embroidery software, her beloved Q20 and now her newest love the L890.

“The only thing I like better than sewing and creating is teaching others about how to do the same.  When you can show someone everything BERNINA products can really do you open such a world of possibility. It is so rewarding to hear to “ah ha” moments at events and in the classroom.”
